Tony Risi Passes Away June 22, 2008
It is with the deepest sorrow that the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society announces that its long time Treasurer Tony Risi departed this life on June 22, 2008 following a long and valiant battle against cancer and heart disease.
From the Society’s inception, Risi worked tirelessly to help guide the financial end of the operation. Working closely with Auditor Harry Adams and Executive Director Ernie Montella, Risi made certain that every penny was accounted for. He often attended major auctions to acquire museum material as well as items to be sold at the gift shoppe.
Tony Risi used his LaSalle College education in several business ventures included co-ownership of North Penn Sportscards, a popular gathering place for collectors.
During the Vietnam War, Tony Risi not only answered his country’s call but served with valor and was highly decorated, a subject he was reluctant to discuss.
He was great worker and wonderful friend and we shall all miss him. Our condolences are extended to his family and many friends. May God grant him eternal peace.
Services for Tony Risi are set for Thursday June 26 at the Moore & Snear Funeral Home at 3rd & Fayette Streets in Consohocken 9-10 am. (closed casket) A 10:30 am Mass across the street at St. Mathews Catholic Church, interment at the church. More details as we get them from Tom Risi.
