Mike Fesnak Finally Gets his Connie Mack Stamp
Beginning in 2001 the A’s Society’s Mike Fesnak who also serves as president of the Bux-Mont Stamp club has been responsible to send almost 20,000 signatures to the U.S. Postal’s Stamp Advisory Commission requesting they honor legendary Connie Mack on a US Postage stamp. No more than they have done for vegetables, cartoon & comic book characters, unfortunately Mike’s efforts have been to no avail. That is until Fesnak came across a firm in California who is licensed to produce legitimate US postage stamps.
You guessed it his first choice was Connie Mack as shown in this recent photograph. These unique one of a kind stamps are NOT for resale. Mike plans to use them for Society purposes.
A framed complete sheet of the stamps will be on display at the Society’s Museum.
In deciding how to distribute the limited number of sheets of 20 stamps Mike has decided to donate them to the Society’s Fund Raising committee for their use. After many thoughts it was agreed that these rare stamps would be a part of the Society’s fund raising’s 2009 agenda accordingly. Any cash contribution to the Society of $200 or more entitles the donor to receive one of the numbered matted & framed sheets of the Connie Mack Stamp. The committee after consultation with stamp collectors decided to keep the scarcity & value of these stamps scarce and rare that they would not break up the sheets into single stamps. All sheets will be sent numbered & matted as shown in the photo. As usual the Society appreciates your support in this interesting endeavor. Keep in ind that only 30 full sheets of 20 stamps each will be made available. No future reruns will be considered.
