| On June 11, 2003 at about 9:12
am a fire started in the apartment directly above the Society's
Hatboro facility. The location of the fire was directly above the
Museum/Library sections in the rear of the building. Although the
apartment was completely damaged our offices did sustain water and
smoke damage mainly in the area shown in the following photographs.
Renovations expect to take about four weeks.
The Society is grateful to the dedication and experience of the
local fire company's that extinquished the fire, namely, Hatboro,
Enterprise, Horsham, Willow Grove, Warminster, Hartsville, Abington,
and Huntingdon Valley fire company's and their group of dedicated
volunteers. The Second Alarmers Association and Rescue Squad also
answered the call that totaled 50 firefighters. We are also so grateful
to our neighbors Bux Mont Office Supply, owner Mark Amos and his
staff, Bev, Theresa, Mary and Janice who assisted us in removing
many of our most precious artifacts from being damaged by the smoke
and water. Although we have lost some of our publications and other
types of colletibles we feel lucky that the losses were limited
to those items.
