July 27, 1943

Two months after this photo was taken this 21 year old Lancaster Red Rose infielder, made his Major League debut. His career of 15 years was highlighted by his induction in 1983 into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Did you know his name?

That's George Kell, who at the time of this photo was leading the Inter-state League in hitting. He was eventually traded by Mr. Mack to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for Barney McCoskey.
