SPOOK JACOBS RECOVERING
by Max Silberman
Members of the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Societyhave come
to love many of the former players whose support and attendance
at our numerous functions have been so crucial to our success. Among
the most popular is Forrest "Spook" Jacobs the erstwhile
second baseman for the A's in Philadelphia and Kansas City as well
as the Pittsburgh Pirates.
On Thursday, May 12, Spook underwent serious surgery in the stomach
area and is currently recuperating in the hospital. The Society
is in touch with his family and many members have sent cards and
remembered Spook in their prayers.
Spook Jacobs was the first former player to join the Society and
has never refused any request for his presence at our events. He
is very fan friendly and signed autographs at Veteran's Stadium
one summer for two hours free of charge!
Please feel free to send cards in care of the Philadelphia Athletics
Historical Society, 6 North York Road, Hatboro, PA 19040 and just
mark Forrest Jacobs on the outside and all well wishes will be sent
to Spook He will be recovering at his Delaware home when he is ready
to leave the hospital and on his behalf, the Society thanks everyone
for their kind thoughts and prayers for his complete and speedy
recovery.
