Wednesday July 13, 2005 at Bobby Shantz Field, Pottstown, Pa.

At 3pm today the A's Society presented to Gary Derenzo, Athletic Director of Pottstown High School, the recently designed "Bobby Shantz Career in Baseball cards " laminated plaque. The plaque will remain on permanent display in the school's athletic department as an inspiration to the youth of Pottstown.

Minature versions (table toppers) of this popular tribute to Pottstown favorite son are on sale through the A's Society where the proceeds from these sales are directed to help in the renovations to the field. Click here to order now.

Besides the mini version "table toppers" of the Shantz plaque the renovation committee is accepting orders for bricks that will be used to rebuild the backstop. Click here for full details on how you can join this long overdue tribute. Each brick will contain 15 characters of your choosing within 3 lines.Bobby Shantz brought so much celebrity to this area and it is time his fans help to complete this task.

If you don't care to purchase a topper or a brick, cash contributions to the fund are readily acceptable.

Bobby is all smiles.
