Phillie Phanatic and Bobby
Shantz Part of A’s Society Grand Re-Opening on December 27th!
The Phillie Phanatic will bring his incredible zaniness to the
A’s Society Museum and Gift Shoppe in Hatboro on December
27th when it formally re-opens. As a result of last June’s
fire, the Museum and Gift Shoppe had to be renovated, and we think
you’ll be most impressed by their new and improved appearance.
The Museum and Gift Shoppe will be open 9 AM to 3 PM on the 27th,
so come by to have a look!
The 27th will be loaded with wonderful activities. The Phanatic
will be on hand from 1000-1100, and will draw the winner of the
free Spring Training Florida vacation, generously provided by Carlton
and Elvena Hodges. The winner gets a one-week stay for two in March
2004 at the luxurious LeMans Suites in Lakeland, Florida . In addition,
airfare from anywhere in the continental United States to Lakeland
and back will be provided as part of the prize package. Entries
to win this wonderful prize are on sale now at the Gift Shoppe and
will continue to be available right up to the moment when the Phanatic
pulls the winner’s name. If you can’t get to the Gift
Shoppe in person, mail in your payment to: A’s Society Gift
Shoppe, 6 North York Road, Hatboro, PA 19040. You can also buy entries
electronically by contacting the Gift Shoppe at YorkRoad6@aol.com.
The Gift Shoppe accepts all major credit cards, personal checks,
and money orders. Each entry costs $5.00, and the more often you
enter, the greater your chances of winning. The raffle is an important
part of the A’s Society’s fund-raising campaign, so
by purchasing entries, you’re helping the Society maintain
a firm financial foundation.
Bob Gordon and Tom Burgoyne will be on hand on December 27th to
sign copies of their book, “Beards, Bellies, and Biceps: The
Story of the 1993 Phillies.” David Jordan, a prolific author
who happens to be president of the Society, will also be present
signing copies of his histories of the Philadelphia Athletics and
Philadelphia Phillies, and his biography of Hal Newhouser, “A
Tiger in His Time.”
Door prizes, refreshments, and a visit from Bobby Shantz, former
member of the Philadelphia Athletics will be part of the festivities
on the 27th. In recognition that our customers have been inconvenienced
by the renovations to the Gift Shoppe necessitated by the June fire,
certain merchandise will be offered at discounts of 10% to 25% as
part of our grand re-opening. Plan to be in Hatboro that day to
enjoy the celebration, choose among the terrific merchandise available
at the Gift Shoppe for that baseball fan on your shopping list,
and see if the Phanatic draws your name for that chance-of-a-lifetime
vacation to Florida.
