Philadelphia Baseball History Conference

Robin Roberts

The Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society (PAHS) and the Chester County Historical Society (CCHS) co-sponsored a Philadelphia Baseball History Conference at the CCHS museum in West Chester, PA on 14-15 April 2000. The agenda included an exciting array of presentations that examined prominent features of the history of baseball in Philadelphia with a special focus on the Philadelphia Athletics and the Philadelphia Phillies. Speakers included players from the 1950 "Whiz Kids" team-with Hall of Famer Robin Roberts-and the manager of the 1954 Athletics, Eddie Joost. In addition, historians presented the results of their published works and ongoing research.
