by Max Silberman

From the inception of the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society in 1996, Joe Astroth has been one of our most dedicated supporters. He has appeared at all of our events and has never said "no" to any request from the Society or any of its members.

Last week Joe underwent open heart surgery. His wife, Marge, reports that he is coming along nicely and will soon be home. Wouldn't it be great if the mail carrier showed up with a big stack of get well cards to show Joe how much we love him?

From 1945 to 1954 Joe had a fine career catching for the Philadelphia Athletics and has been a credit to the game of baseball ever since. If you would like to send your good wishes:

Mr. Joseph Astroth
151 S. Moyer Road
Chalfont, PA 18914

Let us show Joe Astroth that we are all rooting for a speedy and complete recovery!
