Irish Lassie Plans When She
Returns Home to Ireland
The late Mickey Vernon was a frequent visitor to the Society's
Hatboro Museum. On the day he was in signing his Hartland figurines
we had a very interesting visit from a lassie all the way from Ireland.
Ms Beth Mccullagh of Omaga County, Tyrone stopped in to view the
Museum artifacts. What we did not know that day & learned when
she returned recently for a second visit is that Beth plans to open
a PHILLY CHEESE STEAK SHOPPE on her return to Ireland AND decorate
the walls with artifacts of the Athletics, Phillies& Connie
Mack she picked up in the Society's Museum on both visits. In her
conversation with the Society's Mike Fesnak, she lamented, if I
recall Mr. Mack's real name was McGillicuddy and he too was of Irish
heritage. Just goes to prove that even though the Athletics left
Philadelphia more than 50 years ago, the dynasty that Mack built
still survives...all the way across the Atlantic Ocean...(Cheese
steak anyone????)
