We're SORRY, SOOOOO SORRY
In early March we were approached by a representative of the Washington
Nationals who advised us they the team would like to honor us at
their opening day On April 13th as they opened their home team season
against the Phillies. We were quoted a group rate of $24 per ticket
in their section 108 (left field). ( Additionally we would be honored
on the field BUT could not toss out the ceremonial FIRST PITCH because
that was being saved for the President. We decided to see if there
was any interest in taking up the offer by the Nationals & advised
them we would do our best and get back to them as soon as was possible.
To begin we posted a very encouraging notice on our web-site's front
page and posted similar signs in business's through out the county.
Specifically we needed 47 fans willing to make the trip via bus.
Additionally we offered several groups in the Washington area to
consider joining in on the ticket availability in order that we
could meet the 47 required. On April 10th we advised the Nationals
ticket office that we had confirmed 42 fans ready to make the trip
and were hopeful 5 DC fans would take up the slack. At this point
the ticket office advised us that the ticket price of $24 would
be increased to $36 and the 47 seats would not be together but scattered
all over the park. Needless to say we decided in the best interest
of those who agreed to go, to cancel out and watch the game on TV.
What is so interesting about all of this is the prior weekend, Washington
Nationals President, Stan Kasten, was quoted in the April 13 issue
of the Philadelphia Inquirer article encouraging Phillies fans to
make the trip south and enjoy a baseball rivalry!!! Mr Kasten, better
have a talk with your Director of Ticket Sales. According to the
view from our TV here in the Museum, the game was not sold out.
Hopefully, you were short by 47 fans.
Any interest in Nationals fans making a trip to Philly for a game?
If so we can help with the Phillies ticket office.
