Foxx Centennial Birthday Celebration Draws Near
Sudlersville, Maryland is the place you want to be on October 20,
2007 as Jimmie Foxx’s hometown celebrates the 100th anniversary
of his birth. An event-filled day that pays tribute to the Philadelphia
Athletics’ star and Hall of Famer is planned for that day,
and you are invited to attend.
Schedule of Events
9 AM – 4 PM: Jimmie Foxx-related Exhibits and Memorabilia
Sales at Sudlersville Middle School
9 AM – 4 PM: Jimmie Foxx Museum at the Sudlersville Train
Museum Open
10:45 AM – 11 AM: Musical Serenade by the Sudlersville Middle
School Band
11 AM – 11:30 AM: Ceremony at Foxx Statue including Welcoming
Remarks, Star-Spangled Banner, Introduction of Guests, and Wreath-Laying
at Statue
12 PM – 1 PM: Auction of Baseball Memorabilia and Collectibles
at Sudlersville Middle School
1 PM – 3 PM: Luncheon, Guest Speakers, and Jimmie Foxx Trivia
Contest (with prizes for the winners) at Sudlersville Middle School
The auction will feature some top-rated pieces including an authentic
Phillies jersey autographed by Ryan Howard; a Curt Schilling autographed
Boston Red Sox jersey; a Cal Ripken autographed bat; a Johnny Pesky
signed baseball; a Gus Zernial autographed Philadelphia A’s
jersey; and a replica Jimmie Foxx Athletics jersey. A number of
other highly-desirable autographed items also will be available
for bid at the auction.
Tickets to attend the luncheon at the Jimmie Foxx 100th birthday
anniversary tribute in Sudlersville, Maryland are now on sale. Each
ticket costs $25 for the buffet-style luncheon. Orders for tickets

should be made payable to the Sudlersville Community Betterment
Club. Order quickly before all the seats are taken!
The luncheon program includes a keynote address by Mark Millikin,
who has written a biography of Foxx. Several members of the Foxx
family also will be invited to say a few words to the audience.
Don’t forget the Jimmie Foxx trivia contest at which Foxx
figurines sponsored by the A’s Society will be given out as
prizes to the winners.
Remember, the Jimmie Foxx 100th birthday anniversary celebration
will be held in Sudlersville, Maryland on October 20, 2007. This
is literally a once-in-a-lifetime event. The Philadelphia A’s
Society is actively involved in organizing and supporting the celebration,
and we want a BIG turnout by Society members and other interested
individuals for one of Connie Mack’s greatest players. See

Society Commissioned Hartland LLC, the leader in figurines, to design
300 commemorative Jimmie Foxx statues modeled after the Foxx statue
that is located in the center of his hometwon, Sudlersville, Md.
Numbered from #1-300 they will include a Certificate of Authenticity
from Hartland LLC and were available on October 20th as a part of
the Jimmie Foxx Day celebration.
We
have available only a limited number of this Limited Edition Hartland
Jimmie Foxx Figurine. Proceeds will benefit the Jimmie Foxx Museum.
