A'S SOCIETY VISITS BRITH SHOLOM
HOUSE
Realizing that not everyone can visit our museum in Hatboro, the
Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society makes every effort to
visit facilities in the metropolitan area especially those catering
to senior citizens who can no longer get out as much as they once
did.
Thursday, March 15 was a cold and rainy night but the sun was shining
brightly at the Brith Sholom House, a retirement residence in the
Balwynne Park section of Philadelphia.
After dinner a crowd of about 75 residents gathered in the auditorium
where Society members Carl Goldberg, Rikki Silberman and Max Silberman
addressed the group and had a lively question and answer session
and also shared remembrances of those Shibe Park days.
A's Executive Director Ernie Montella selected several books to
be given out as door prizes much to the delight of the baseball
fans present.
The Society was warmly received as it has been on past visits to
museums, libraries, senior centers and veterans' homes. We thank
Michael Schaeffer of the Brith Sholom House for inviting us and
we hope to return in the future.
