A'S CELEBRATE UNION
LIBRARY'S 250TH
by Max Silberman
On Saturday, March 12th, Hatboro's Union Library was honoring the
game of baseball as part of its 250th anniversary celebration. A
hint of spring was in the air as a large crowd of all ages gathered
for a morning of baseball fun.
David Jordan, Society President and baseball author and Max Silberman,
Historian spoke to the assembled guests and conducted a question
and answer session with A's great Bobby Shantz who was most gracious
in answering questions and signing autographs. A surprise guest
was former Phillies infielder Don Hasenmayer (1945-46) who also
chatted with the crowd and signed autographs.
A tip of the old A's cap goes to Mike Fesnak and Harry Adams who
have been our good will ambassadors in establishing cooperative
links to the Bux-Mont community.
After the event, many of the guests walked two blocks down York
Road to enjoy the newly renovated museum.
