A jam packed A's Society Museum in Hatboro was the location for the kick-off of the Carchidi book and having Bobby Shantz drop in only added to the excitement. As an added surprise Society member Pat Mulvena treated the entire group to freshly baked Philly soft pretzels. (see photos)

For Philadelphia kids growing up in the 1950's 1960's and 1970's Bill Campbell was the sports voice for all seasons. His call of Eagles, Phillies, 76er's and Warriors games were always passionate, always clear and concise, and always enjoyable.
Frank Fitzpatrick, Phila.Inquirer sportswriter

Besides this wonderful book of a Philadelphia sports legend the authors have also included a free cd that captures some of his most famous calls.Listen and relive a nostalgic moment as his voice takes you back to December 1960 the Eagles & Packers at Franklin Field. A very must for the sports fan no matter where you reside !!!!

That's Bobby Shantz who made a surprise visit to the Museum as he relives that infamous day in September 1964 when the Milwaukee Braves Rico Carty hit a bases loaded triple in a crucial game that sealed the Phillies pennant hopes. They had a great laugh today but as Campbell said "it wasn't fun that day I called the play". Sam Carchidi the co-author also enjoyed Bobby's "story".

Signing and more signing

A's Society member Pat Mulvena of Cherry Hill, NJ made the day bringing in dozens of Philly's famous soft pretzels.

The next photo says it all.

Pat Mulvena, Joe Brancato, and Sam Carchidi look on as Campbell wants a Philly pretzel.
